Sharp Microelectronics' release of displays featuring diagonals between 60 and 80 inches has cemented its leadership position in the field of standard LCDs optimised for signage applications.
The new e-Signage series of displays includes high-brightness screens with resolutions up to 2,000 cd/m², a lifespan of up to 60,000 hours continuous operation (depending on the model) and an extended range of operating temperatures from 0° to 50°C.
Sharp e-Signage displays feature full HD resolution with 1920 x 1080 pixels as standard and LED-based back-lighting. The range includes standard TFT LCD modules (types LK600D3LBX, LK695D3LBX, and LK800D3LBX ) that deliver brightness levels of 350 cd/m², 500 cd/m² and 700 cd/m² respectively. In addition, Sharp offers numerous special models:
A number of e-Signage displays include yellow as an additional subpixel, delivered by Sharp’s Quattron technology. Localised dimming delivers energy efficiency and the targeted increase of contrast to 1-million-to-1. Many models in the new series of displays feature integrated LED back lighting drivers and PWM (pulse-width modulation) dimming.
According to Nigel Watts, MD of Sharp’s pan-European sales and marketing representative e-Signage displays are optimized for open-air applications: The LK600D3LB14, LD600D3LH1, and LD700D3LH1 models are 60 and 70 inch displays, which, thanks to their brightness of up to 2,000 cd/m², are easy to read even in bright daylight”, Watts said. “And the integrated dimming capability makes it easy to adjust the display to suit lower levels of ambient light, which keep the average energy consumption within limits, despite the high performance backlight.”
Series production for the new signage displays is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2012. Customers in benelux, France, Iberia, Italy and the UK & Ireland are invited to utilise the Ismosys Enquiry Service for pricing information and availability updates
