2nd generation of the 10W LED Arrays offer 47% efficiency increase

Date: 12/1/2012

- Sharp’s latest Mini Zeni variants radiate with an efficiency of up to 106 lm/W, a luminous flux of up to 900 lm and a CRI value of 82 (typ.)

Fully reflecting the latest technical advances in LED production, the latest generation of 10W Mini Zeni LED arrays from Sharp Microelectronics offer up to 47% improvement in efficiency, are significantly brighter than first generation devices and are compact, lightweight and economical.

Depending on the module, the new GW5BMJx0K04 series of Mini Zeni arrays offer a light output of up to 900 lumens, a luminous efficacy of up to 106 lm/W in standard operation, high CRI values of 82 and a service life of 40,000 operating hours at temperatures up to 90°C. The new devices are specified for use with a forward voltage of 17.7 volts and a forward current of 480 mA., but the arrays can also be operated using a current of up to 800 mA, enabling values of up to 1300 lm to be reached. Availability in 3,000, 4,000 amd 5,000 Kelvin (K) colour temperatures will enable users to choose from “natural white" (GW5BMJ40K04), "warm white" (GW5BMJ30K04) or "pure white" (GW5BMJ50K04) LED lighting outputs.

According to Ismosys MD Nigel Watts, Sharp has retained all the ease-of-use features that made Sharp’s first generation of Mini Zeni LED arrays so popular: “The15 x 12 x 1.6 millimetres overall dimensions are unchanged, as is Sharp's use of an aluminium ceramic plate as the carrier material”, Watts said. “Further, the flat surface of the ceramic plate and the soldering points Sharp provides make it easy to attach the modules to a suitable heat sink without additional connecting material, thereby maximising achieving efficient heat dissipation.”

Second generation Mini Zeni LED arrays from Sharp target numerous commercial and domestic lighting applications e.g. spot lighting and LED retrofit lamps, etc. Customers in EMEA are invited to order initial samples of Sharp’s second generation Mini Zeni LED arrays - available in the colour temperatures of 3000K (warm white) and 4000K (natural white) - by using the Ismosys Enquiry Service.
