New 2.0 GHz processor sets new standards for ARM-based embedded applications - Delivering Blistering Speeds and PC Class Performance for Digital Home and Small Office Devices

Delivering a blistering 2.0 GHz performance, Marvell’s ARMADA 300 is the industry's most powerful processor for applications utilizing the ARM instruction set.

The latest extension to Marvell’s ARMADA family of application processors the ARMADA 300 sets a new standard by offering PC-class performance enabled by Marvell's patented CPU technology. The ARMADA 300 series offers more than 2.0 GHz processing horsepower in a sub 2W power envelope for the entire SoC (System-on-Chip) – a level of performance never before offered by this class of processor. Designed from the ground-up to be the best-in-class for the ARM instruction set, the CPU at the heart of every ARMADA device ensures the processors deliver the flexibility, interfaces and price-point requirements of today's digital economy. Unlike other comparable, commercially available products, Marvell® CPUs deliver higher performance and lower power dissipation while providing full software compatibility to all ARM-based applications.

According to Rob Enderle, Principal Analyst for the Enderle Group, Marvell is setting the bar high for embedded computing with the introduction of the ARMADA 300: "[Marvell’s] expertise in low-power, high performance processors is enabling entirely new classes of products - like the plug computer - that are destined to change the way people live their lives", Enderle said.

The ARMADA 300 extends the Marvell ARMADA family by including both Plug Computing server applications and new levels of advanced sensor processing for consumer devices. ARMADA 300 powered devices are designed to revolutionize the digital home by offering compact, low-power, affordable solutions; for the first time, to enable performance-bound, digital home innovative applications and services.

The Wi-Fi Alliance certification program conducts tests on products to the 802.11 industry standards for interoperability, security, ease of installation, and reliability. The WPA2-Enterprise mark indicates that a product meets the criteria established to ensure stronger data protection for larger corporate networks, as it uses a Radius server to generate an encryption key per session. This certification speeds time to market, minimises risk and reduces the cost for customers creating Wi-Fi enabled devices.
